La Vie à Quatre Roues! Jour 9

The Château and Gardens of Villandry, Loire Valley

Staying at Azay-le-Rideau for a second night meant that we had a slightly more leisurely day, and only a short drive to the magnificent gardens of Villandry. So many beautiful sights that I’ve created a postcard from the gardens (see extra) as well as choosing my favourite shot for my main blip, taken underneath the grape vines.

Another short drive to the north bank of the Loire took us to Langeais where the Château dominated the village (see extra). The day was really heating up by now so we were content to enjoy the Château from the shelter of a pavement cafe umbrella with a chilled glass of the local bubbly!

Mid afternoon the temperature had reached 32 degrees so we headed back to camp and cooled off in the Indre River which flows alongside the campsite (with last night’s Château on the other bank). We weren’t the only ones with the same idea, I only managed a paddle but others were out paddle boarding (see extra).

Returning from an evening meal in the village (see last extra), I heard other campers saying that we were in for a humdinger of a thunderstorm that night, and boy were they right...
