Centenary Celebrations

The WI in Surrey continues to celebrate in its centenary year. Today we were at Guildford Cathedral for an ecumenical service. The Lord Leutenant of Surrey together with the Mayor of Guildford with their wives and the National WI Chairman were our honoured guests (see extra)
At the beginning of the service some of the WIs paraded their banners up to the front of the nave and they made a splendid sight. Our WI's banner is just over a year old, so we were pleased to volunteer it for the occasion.
The Federation Chairman gave an address, and there were uplifting readings, poems and hymns. The Surrey WI choir sang Pie Jesu and the service ended, of course, with Jerusalem. How good it is to sing the WI anthem to the accompaniment of a cathedral organ!
