Ladyside Pike
With the Tour of Britain taking place from Cockermouth to Whinlatter today, we planned a run to take in a couple of fells, and also to do a little supporting and soak up the atmosphere. Not as sunny as yesterday but still fantastic visibility, the mountains looked spectacular with the patches of sunshine breaking through the clouds.
Neither of us had read the programme thoroughly, and thus didn't know that the race actually started at 1pm, instead of 11am as thought. Nevertheless we saw a handful of teams doing a practice ride up the hill. The finish area at Whinlatter was heaving, and I was very impressed that many primary schools had taken classes up to see the race.
