Toad Hall

Final day of our Cornish hols today. We pootled off to Charlestown and had a look round the harbour. It was peaceful with the kids going back to school last week, car parks have been empty yet everything is still open, just gradually slowing down with this year's high season at an end.

Charlestown is Poldark central. There are Poldark flags, mugs, gin ... even a massive picture you could have your photo taken with. And there were plenty of 'women of a certain age' lining up for a snap.

We then moved on to Fowey where we had booked afternoon tea overlooking the sea. Seemed like a nice end to our hols. And it was. We got there a tad early and sat in the grounds in the baking sun chatting away. My attempts at getting a photo with all of us looking at the camera and smiling are futile, hence the one I chose for this blip, it was the closest.

Fowey Hall was an inspiration for Toad Hall in The Wind in the Willows. Author Kenneth Grahame had stayed there and his letters to his children were immortalised in his Edwardian novel. We could just imagine Ratty, Moley, Badger and Toad around the place.

Mum loves a farm shop do we headed over to Lobbs at Heligan for some cream teas to take home.

All 3 Rayments in the hot tub when we got back, a bit of telly and then sadly packing to leave our little Cornish abode in the morning.
