Oranjekanaal

The rain has disappeared to the east, leaving the landscape dripping wet. The sun shines brilliantly but fails to warm the earth.
This birds have disappeared to the south, leaving the woods silent. The sky is cloudless with hardly a sigh of wind.

Seen here: the Oranjekanaal. Dug in the 1930's as what we would today call an economic stimulation project, it connected Emmen to the main shipping arteries. The last ship passed its locks in the 1970's
