"Snapshots………..

…………………..From the Past"

Sophia and Marcus, along with all the students at their school in Wellington, have participated in the most amazing production of song, dance and acting.

We loved every minute and looking at the faces on the students, they too loved performing and being on the stage. Excitement was certainly in the air.

The theme was based on different aspects of New Zealand history starting with Maui fishing up our islands, to the Otago Gold Rush, to the Eruption of Tarawera, to Women’s Suffrage, to WW1 & the Modern Era, to Art Deco and Napier’s devastating earthquake, to Edmund Hilary Conquering Mount Everest, to The Beatles on Tour, to Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Wahine tragedy and finally the whole school singing while notable people and achievements flashed across a screen. I’m sure it was a fun way of learning history too.

This photo was taken pre showtime.
Marcus and his class reenacted the 1886 Tarawera eruption which caused massive destruction to villages and loss of the famous Pink and White Terraces.

Sophia, dressed ready for her part in Beatlemania when John, Paul, George and Ringo flew in for an 8 day tour. She was a member of the Maori welcome party, hence the moko on her chin.

Both grandchildren excelled in their respective rolls and we were very proud grandparents.

Thank you for visiting yesterday’s blip and sprinkling stars and lovely comments. The grey weather caused the colour photo to look mono.
