Direct drilling and minimal cultivation

This is the way forward now.  The plough has been packed away (we could never get rid of it!), as has the power harrow which does the most damage,  and this new technique improves the topsoil and the worm population and with time revives the years of overworked soil.  T has been planting Red Clover and Cocksfoot.  The seed is dropped into shallow channels and then covered up again - all done by the machine.
