The Castlemilk Project
It seems to have been a week of site visits and meetings in far flung corners of Glasgow which suits me fine - I'm definitely a 'desk driver' at heart but getting out every once in a while is good for mind, body and soul I reckon.
I was up at Castlemilk today (I say 'up' but it's actually in the south of the city) with our consultant hydrologists to look at options for improving the hydrology and flood risk management potential of one of our Commonwealth Games environmental legacy project sites (a sister project to the one in Camlachie in the east end).
It was great to do a walk over of the site from a water management perspective with two trained hydrologists and mentally tick off all the things I've been writing about in my thesis as they did - maybe I do know stuff after all..!!
The chap in the blip is Richard Bolton from Cassiltoun Housing Association - woodland officer, local knowledge expert extraordinnaire and all round nice guy. We're working closely with Richard on this project to ensure our draft designs are a good fit with community needs - it's incredible how much Richard has his finger on the pulse in the area.
