Surat Bay, Catlin Coast
We had hoped to be able to extend the NZ leg of our trip and had travelled down to the Catlin Coast while awaiting news from the travel agent about flights. This was with the intention of spending a bit of time exploring the south coast. Sadly, the travel agents were unable to help us (I won't go into how frustrating that communication was as this was still a lovely day) so this was our only sojourn into the tip of the Catlins. We took a walk along the beach from Surat Bay towards Cannibal Bay. The beach was empty except for one sleepy fur seal (or possibly a sea lion but we think it was a seal) and one crazy teenage motorcyclist very briefly whizzzing past us. Although not the most dramatic of the wow moments of NZ, I think, for me, it was the most beautiful. As I still haven't really mastered my camera and not spent the appropriate time doing so, I've become rather enamoured with its panoramic view setting.
