City Transport
Glasgow's latest sustainable transport for goods takes the form of a 'rickshaw'. Pretty impossible on certain hilly streets, I imagine, especially with a load, but great in the Merchant City where this was spotted. Notice lots of Next Bikes have gone from the adjacent bike station. NextBike sharing scheme now has 500 bikes and 62 stations across the city.
Also, all bus services operating in an existing city centre Air Quality Management Zone will be required to meet at least the Euro VI emission standard by 2022. Currently, it is thought only about 10% of the buses meet the standard, with compliance expected to reach 20% by the end of the year. Environmental campaigners have criticised Glasgow Council for failing to include cars, taxis, vans and lorries within the 2022 plan, nicknaming the scheme a ‘no ambition zone’!
