The chat was scintillating. It crackled and fizzed, seamlessly linking apparently unrelated subjects with wit and verve.

Of course, to anyone unfamiliar with our mode of conversation, it might’ve sounded like “have you seen that thing on Netflix? It’s called er ... it’s got that woman in it, the one who was in ... thingy. You know, the one with the long face. No, it’s gone. Anyhow, whose round is it?”
