The Nikau

A rather chaotic morning and a late trip to Snells Beach. S went see her mother and I went to the supermarket in Warkworth. One purchase was a milk and energy drink for S’ mother. Took it across to her, and then started thinking of what to photograph.

Looking down to the water of Kawau Bay, I saw a gannet cruising the air currents. Quickly went around the headland and out of sight. Which is when I saw our Nikau, a native palm tree. It grows from almost the lowest part of the section, and is now big enough for all its leaves to be above the lowest of the decks.

That deck has an edging of planter boxes full of Impatiens. The low light makes them not easy to see, they give a dash of colour amongst the trees and ferns,
