Annual Country Learning
A somewhat unclear title for anyone outside The Leprosy Mission world, but basically these events are a chance for staff, board members and friends of TLM member countries to look back at what is happening and to learn from what works and doesn't, to help each other think and talk through new ideas and plans for the future. I attended TLM Bangladesh's ACL in July, and now it is our turn. After a long but fascinating day we went to Oran Mor for a nice Scottish meal, after which we were encouraged to share our thoughts on how it had gone and on our hopes for tomorrow and for the future while holding a small quaich. This is Yousif from South Sudan sharing his thoughts. It is great to have input from not just our staff, Board members and friends of the organisation, but also from the heads of TLM France, India, Myanmar, New Zealand, Nigeria and South Sudan who are visiting (we planned it when they would be in the UK anway).
They will also be joining us on Monday night at a reception in Stirling for the Scotland v Poverty exhibition, organised by the Network of International Development Organisations in Scotland (for those in the British NGO world it is our equivalent to BOND) which is currently touring Scotland, and we and two other charities are hosting in Stirling Arcade (No 23). It is there 10-5 every day until Wednesday (inclusive), and then heads to Dollar, then to Banff, Aberdeen, the DFID offices in East Kilbride and finally Oban. Find out more about how Scottish organisations are changing the world here, or better still come along! Expect a blip with a politician or two late on Monday night!
