Relief!
Time before my tests at the Dr's to drop some books at the charity shop and buy 2 jigsaw puzzles there! Then to photograph this mural which I'd never noticed before! I was trying to get a photo of the one on the opposite building and spotted this much larger one! I don't often walk or drive down this way through the high street to see it! I actually discovered there are 14 murals in all in the town - I have blipped the Blacksmiths , (am amazed reading that entry to find that was back in sept when I first started my retreat from everything!) I have been meaning to do the pasty factory mural and the one opposite this, but had no idea there were even more! I shall have to go looking for the rest! There are plans to refresh the existing ones and add new ones so this could be a long photo project! This one marks Callington's link to the sea and depicts King Arthur coming into port!
Next stop the Spa - I have rarely gone in there to shop and was most disappointed by the fact they had none of the things I wanted! I so miss the recently closed Co-Op!
I had an unbelievably long wait to check in at the dr's - the woman in front needed injections for her holiday and there was some mix up over how she could get these in time. By the time it was sorted the queue stretched to the door! Why the other receptionist couldn't open up her window is beyond me! I was quickly called once booked in and to my surprise I actually saw a Dr not the prescription nurse I was told I was seeing! Funnily enough I was thinking on the way into Callington that I needed to see my own Dr in Gunnislake about my IBS, and had wondered if the nurse would in fact be able to examine me. Well no need - I asked this Dr instead after having my blood pressure taken ( which was perfect by the way!) and he prescribed Buscopan to stop the spasms and a laxative to get me moving! I am to take both for 2 weeks, keep a food diary and look into suluable and insoluble fibre and make a note if either effects how I am! He didn't seem bothered that I had self diagnosed IBS and seemed to accept it given my symptoms and the potted history of the last year I gave him! I was desperate for him to look at my bloated belly and the pouch I seem to have developed above it, but he was not interested! When did Dr's stop examining patients?!
I had time to browse the bookshelves and select 3 books for a donation to cancer research and get my prescription, and then I saw the nurse for a blood test and I was out! Despite the fact my spasms were causing me quite intense discomfort by this time I was elated! Finally maybe a way out of this damn IBS or at least a treatment to lessen its impact on my daily life. I did look at the side effects of both medications before I took them but really nothing could be as bad as what I've been living with this last year! Despite my own Dr assuring me earlier in the summer that my belly issues were all in my head, and would settle with time, I can assure you they were definitely all in my bowels and extended to my whole system feeling out of sorts, and I could feel my mind/mood beginning to dip down, and my anxiety rise again. I couldn't see anything more I could possibly do to help myself, I'd restricted my diet, added things to my diet, done CBT, Counselling, reflexology, herbalist, yoga and meditation. I'd taken laxatives when things got too bad! All this and time had settled my anxiety and panic attacks but just when I was beginning to socialise again and do more than allotment/ shopping/ hairdressers, and it seemed my bowels / IBS were settling and I was getting days of respite, they kicked off really badly again. So I am pleased beyond words to have some hope of relief at last! I may have to change my Dr's surgery from Gunnislake to Callington to stick with this wonderful Dr! They are linked so it shouldn't be an issue! If I have to go back I may at least find some more of the murals!
P.S. Having posted this I have just realised the name of the street this mural is on is called Well street! How's that for an uncanny coincidence!
