Not exactly Life magazine: I know....
...but it's only the second time I have been in a national publication so I am still childishly pleased!
This is a write up in Vintage Spirit magazine about the Great Dorset Steam Fair photography competition, which I have just had the pleasure, and shock, of winning!
It says....for our judges, this superbly composed image captured two of the most iconic elements of the show: road steam and real ale. Showing Burrell showman's road locomotive No 3489, King George VI, looking particularly resplendent besides the site's ever-polular Real Ale Marquee, the picture also highlights the contrasting weather conditions of this year's show. Although the image is taken in faint sunshine, the dark sky is a portent of the dark rain showers that marred both the first and last days of the event. Most of all though, with it's clever combination of Victorian engineering, a regal title, unpredictable weather, real ale and a Union Jack, the image epitomises the very British nature of the Great Dorset event....
