Windbox

This is the windbox of the boiler of Eems 20.
On friday we discovered water dripping out of the boiler and we went inside the windbox to investigate.
We were getting a bit wet there....
Water was spraying out of several small cracks around the burners. (and the boiler was not even under pressure yet...).
So: repair had to be done, scaffolding had to be placed and welders had to be contracted. (all on friday evening and night for the repair on saturday)
At this time on sundaymorning everything is finished, we went in for the final inspection.
At the left you can see the vanes through which the hot air (520 deg C.) passes to the burner.
The air are the exhaust gasses of the gasturbine in which there is still enough oxygen to be used in the boiler.
There are 18 burners in this box and you can see 3 of them.
The big pipes in front are used for stiffening the construction.
The ladder in the middle is for the scaffolding, that has to be taken out, otherwise.....it wil melt.
The ripples on the left are the pipes around the furnace; they make an air tight wall.
Through the pipes the water flows to be heated up and turn into steam.
