No sane person would drive for 16hrs through choice without a very good reason, but this makes it all worthwhile.
The 8hrs in the UK were hellish, the 8hrs in France are comparatively expensive but a joy. Every time I do it I think I should take longer and visit a few places en route--then Mountain fever gets hold and I take l'autoroute Blanche. One-day, maybe.
Arriving in the Arve Valley I stopped for supplies and it was blisteringly hot, fortunately its always a little cooler up higher at St Gervais. I suspect I'll sleep well tonight.
I can't really process that it's a year since I've been here, a lot's happened, the next few weeks should be interesting.
