The original fire station in the village.

We now have a modern fire station manned by volunteers, but the engine house (with the red doors) provided protection for the horse drawn pump which was used to fight fires for over 100 years.

The last fire at which it saw service was on the 20th August 1935. The cottage adjoining the engine house has a thatched roof, similar to many of the roofs in the village......a major fire risk.
