You just never know..

how creative people will be.  What a strange and unusual shop we came upon in Brevard, NC..already decorated for Halloween in the windows but with all kinds of vintage dresses, hats, and some things I don't even know how to describe..maybe that "steam punk" stuff.   

First thing this  morning we stopped by Looking Glass Falls which is right by the road....great early morning light..see the extra.   Had to walk down steps and then back up!   Not too bad.

Then we headed to Dupont State Park for a view of Triple Falls and High Falls.   In the extra is a collage  of two of the falls at Triple Falls and 2 shots of High Falls..one with me..after I climbed on the rocks to get to the big flat rock at the bottom of the falls.  This waterfall was ROARING.  Of course, we had to go uphill to get back to the car!      A long hike..about 5 miles probably and it was hot again.   

After the waterfalls we went to the small town of Brevard for lunch and to walk around in the air conditioning of the stores.     There are plenty of art galleries, antique shops and other touristy shops  on the two block area that makes up the town.     We had to venture into the shop that had this dog above in the window along with costumes for Halloween.   It was a real eye opener as the shop had some weird stuff..Who buys this stuff!?  See the extras. There was a little sign that said  "we thank you for not taking photos" but I broke the law and took photos!     

Joyce was a real mountain women today.   She climbed on the rocks at the river, over tree trunks and squeezed through a gap in the trail.    A collage of her in the extras.

Tomorrow we are driving south along the Blue Ridge Parkway for most of the day just to see what we can see.  Lots of scenic overlooks in the mountains.   I know about a  great restaurant we want to try out on the parkway.    Then a stop at an apple orchard where we can get photos of apples hanging on the trees and some apples to take home.  It will be our last day here so we plan to make the most of it! 


We are both tired tonight but will be energized for more adventure by tomorrow morning!
