Isambard Kingdom Brunel
A different journey to Sweden for me today via Paddington and LHR
This statue is of Isambard Kingdom Brunel who was a famous engineer in the 1800s. In 1833, before the Thames Tunnel was complete, Brunel was appointed chief engineer of the Great Western Railway, one of the wonders of Victorian Britain, running from London to Bristol. The present London Paddington station was designed by Brunel and opened in 1854.
