Smardale Gill Old Viaduct

Just outside the village of Newbiggin on Lune in the Eden Valley. The viaduct stands 90ft high on 14 stone arches and was completed in 1861.
We used to walk this route from the village on a very regular basis during the 5 years we lived in Newbiggin, always with our Collie/Springer X Floyd. The walk today brought back many happy memories touched with nostalgia.
