Bank Holiday stroll through Maldon & down the prom. Lots of people & a bit of nostalgia as the Clacton Vespa Club were in town.
Vespa (wasp) - Originally the MP5 ("Moto Piaggio no. 5"), the prototype was nicknamed "Paperino" (duckling" or "Donald Duck"). Piaggio wasn't happy with the MP5 so work began on the MP6 and on 23rd April 1946, at 12 o'clock in the central office for inventions, models and makes of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in Florence, Piaggio took out a patent for a "motorcycle of a rational complexity of organs and elements combined with a frame with mudguards and a casing covering the whole mechanical part".
And so it began!
