Douglas Fir,

Oregon's state tree. Many years ago, when the scenic license plates were first being introduced, I entered a contest to design the new plates. My suggestion had a Douglas fir branch with a couple of these cones, in the middle of the plate. I did not win, but had fun doing it.
We had some rain this afternoon. Not really rain, but a bit of moisture falling out of the clouds. John cleaned the chimney, and we made the first fire since spring. Getting ready for winter.
