In Kubla Khan

Five miles meandering with ever a mazy motion
Through wood and dale the sacred river ran

At Ottery St Mary in the Land of Canaan ( a park ) you will find the poetry stones, which run for seventy metres and carry Samuel Coleridges's Kubla Khan from the town to the River Otter.

Coleridge was born here on October 21 1772.

We had an enjoyable day walking the circular Coleridge Link Walk - ten miles of meandering with ever a mazy motion, some of it in the mist. The walk follows the sacred river Otter for some miles

Coleridge was under the influence of something when he wrote the poem and it wasn't Chorley cakes
