Dusk on Pigeon House Road
Drove along Sandymount Strand (Howth blanked out in fog) then onto the Poolbeg Peninsular, first pulling up at Berth 46-47, the Hammond Metal dock, where they had a big ship in (some interesting contrasts: leaves in the water and a red plastic football near the rusting hull) then off towards the South Wall. I spent the time taking photographs or just taking in the gradually deepening colours of dusk, from painterly Whistler-greys to street-lit night-blues and purples. Then the metaphysics of streetlights, their join-the-daubs stand-apartness raising the road, delineating everything, telling the time: night, in case you didn't know.
