Port Appin Structures: The Pier

Not a day here for going outside so another Port Appin Structures Blip is what you get.  This was built using plastic strips - yards of the stuff - and then weathered using thick acrylic paint then dusted with talc while the paint was wet.  This gives it a rough effect like weed and barnacles, just like the real thing.

My prototypes for this were the ruined piers at Ellenabeich on Seil, Port Bannatyne on Bute and at Arrochar.  This type of construction is typical of the majority of small timber piers across the west coast of Scotland.
