Antonine Wall
The Antonine Wall was a defensive structure built by the Romans across Scotland. It wasn’t a wall as such, but a turf embankment and a deep ditch. It also made use of natural barriers such as hills and stone escarpments. The picture shows a section of the ditch near the village of Croy.
