Perfect Day

After all the cloud and rain we have had over the last few days, everyone was delighted with the weather for Dufton Show today. It was perfect - lovely blue skies and sunshine, but not too hot for the runners.

We had a fun day and a successful day. Here is oldest grandaughter and her dog being presented with a third prize in the Pet Show. I chose this picture from many as I think it gives a good idea of the Show itself and its wonderful fellside backdrop.

Before the Pet Show our nine year old had a fabulous run in the Junior Fell Race of 800 metres. She was first in her category and was presented with a trophy. We were very proud of her. The extra picture shows her coming in to the finish. And she got a fourth in a big class for her Turtle.

Later our daughter and her partner completed the full Fell Race, which is 8 km and goes up and down Dufton Pike. An fine achievement in itself, but when she later found she had come first in her category, she was very pleased indeed. (And even Grandad managed a second for his Rock Buns.)

And later we all went to the Bridge Bistro for a meal. A super day. It is such a lovely, friendly, local, uncommercialised Show - The Fellside Royal
