Diary of an Edinburgher

Pretzel!

Anyone who wasn’t out and about today in the UK, making the most of the nice weather before the promised deluge countrywide tomorrow, was silly.

The day started off with coffee out in the front garden. And yes, people passed by - Pretzel and her mum, whom we haven’t seen for ages was lured in for a coffee and a chat, while the dogs boxed and played (Extra) and generally had great fun. Pretzel is tiny (she doesn’t look it in this photo) but she full of life, Happy as Larry and Ready for Anything. Archie loves her. We've reminded her mum that we'd be happy to have have any time she wants to go off and do stuff.

After she'd gone another dog owning neighbour stopped by, and promises were made to get together again very soon.

We then set off to Dalkeith Country Park a) to keep up my new walking regime and b) the promise of two-for-one breakfasts. BUT... we were too late for breakfast, which stopped at 11.30! Most places in town do all day breakfasts. Anyway, a scone and a cuppa were scoffed, then off we went on the 'Old Wood Walk' which takes about 90 minutes (7,368 steps). With several sit downs. And we saw a deer.

Archie wasn’t sick, but on the way home, nearly there, we had to stop for a wee while. Phew.

A big wash for him and a play in the back garden to dry off. JR popped to the supermarket while I watched a rugby league match and rested, and suddenly it was time to pop over to the neighbour for drinkies at 5pm. Where does the day go?

A most pleasant evening was had, a couple of bottles of fizz, some tasty nibbles, and home four hours later. Archie doesn’t come, as our neighbour is not a doggie person and is VERY house proud. Bathrooms renovations were discussed at length, as she's thinking of doing hers. Archie gave us a crazed welcome, which was nice. He's not left on his own very often.

Just started watching Series 4 of The Affair. Enjoying it too - Saturday night terrestrial TV doesn’t appeal at all.
