In Judeo-Christian tradition God is often referred to as a refuge, a strength in times of trouble. On analogy is that of a high tower, a feature well known to us in Ireland.

In this picture you can get a sense of how safe one might feel if you were on the top floor of a high tower, protected from the enemy by a strong guard who stands between you and the danger.

I am sure that whether you are a person of faith or not, the analogy rings true. Where is your high tower to where you withdraw when trouble comes? Maybe that is a person… or maybe you are that place of safety for someone else and that is surely a gift to treasure!
