Not Waving But Drowning

A wasp in a jar of jam? Not that unusual, surely, it could be a trap - except this is a stowaway. 
As an unashamed collector (for future jellymaking purposes) of other people's used mini-jamjars I lifted a couple from Dobbies Cafe yesterday morning.
Come this morning, when I came to wash them out, who should I find but this hapless wasp, trying valiantly to keep its head above water jam before suffocating in the enclosed space.
I'm not that fond of wasps but felt this particular one deserved a second chance, though if it thought I was taking it back to Dobbies to join its friends, it was mistaken. I tipped it onto the front lawn, complete with a dollop of jam - though it was probably sick of the stuff by then.
