Tents Without Tenants
Walked out on the beach at Figueira again this morning, so eerie, with the fog still thick, and almost no people, apart from two elegantly dressed ladies in pretty hats walking beside the waves, picking up shells (see extra), and a group of lifeguards limbering up.
The tents are made from cotton canvas, and haven't changed in the last fifty years. Chatted to the group tending these blue and white ones (each section has slightly different coloured stripes). They buy the material at the market and sew them themselves, as they always have. You can hire one for a month, complete with two canvas chairs for 152 euros.
As well as toilets and changing cubicles and showers along the beach, there is also a library, where you leave your document in exchange for a book (in several languages) for the day, as well as magazines, and a computer if you want to check your emails. So civilised.
Anyway, then had to pick up a couple from the railway station, and drive here to Quiaios for the conference.
PS No internet here, so having to use Mike's phone as a hotspot, so please forgive scant commenting, etc.
