Heat Lovers
A stunning surprise in the hot, dry raised bed this week. This bulbous plant, probably Rhodophialia bifida, a member of the Amaryllidaceae from South America, needs the heat to perform well in the garden. It's certainly had that this summer. I've had it for years, so long that I'd forgotten it was there! It's clearly hardy, having come through the last winter but the bed it's in is over 50% grit so frost does not penetrate too deep.
A fun outing this evening. Jamie is playing with a group of violinists at a wedding on Saturday. Tonight was rehearsal night in the ancient church in the middle of a Norfolk field. We were treated to a mini-concert. Just wonderful :-)
