Stapled!!
Well, I planned to put a photo on today, but this wasn’t what I had in mind. It was a pretty rubbish day today.....we were home late last night and I was tired this morning. Sue picked me up and arrived a bit late at work. We were both drivers so they were going nowhere without us! Most people were going straight to the session so Sue, Shelley and I went in the lorry. It was the first time at the venue and we got a bit lost going there, but we got there eventually.
I’d driven there and as I got out of the cab I said Sue could drive back....well she had no choice in the end. When I opened the back one of the cages had fallen over and so Sue jumped up on the tailgate with Jeff to help me get it off. Sue then stayed up to help me unload. The next bit is all a bit of a blur....
I didn’t realise Sue was lowering the tailgate, I stepped back into thin air and fell off the back of the lorry. It all seemed to happen in slow motion and I hit the tailgate and thought ‘Wow, that was a close thing...’ then I smashed my head in the safety bars.
Oh my god, it hurt like hell. I had to lie there with blood dripping out until an ambulance arrived. I was taken to Thameside Hospital where everyone was lovely. Lou followed in her car and stayed with me and eventually brought me home.
They put five staples in my head...Lou took this pic whilst they stapled me lol........they x-rayed my ankle to check it wasn’t fractured, they bandaged up my bleeding elbow and then just to add to everything they decided to jab me with a tetanus booster!!!
As we were near the session we called back there just so everyone could see I was okay and I could thank them for all their help. Then Lou brought me home. I’m aching and have a headache but I’ll live. I look like nothing on earth with blood matted hair, I’ve been told not to wash it yet. I think I might have a bruise or two tomorrow. Thank God nothing was broken as I fly off on holiday next week. I was told I would have to go and get the staples taken out, but they gave me a staple remover so one of the nurses can do it next week which saves me a trip.
What a flippin’ day!!!
