Oh frabjous day - calloo callay

We went back to the secret lake in trepidation. We 'd been putting it off fearing bad news so were overjoyed to see big grebe and little grebe paddling around as parent gave the youngster an evening meal. Last time we were at the lake, there was a youth with an air rifle and mutterings about how the grebes ate the fish, but there are also locals who look after the lake and clear the rubbish, so I guess these beautiful birds are safe for now. No sign of the other parent bird and youngster, but grateful for those that survive.
