Escape to the hills
After almost two weeks of roaming the hills, at last we get to scamper up a couple. For these two we had an early start (for us), to drive down Glen Etive to get to the access point at Invercharnan. Here there was a long trudge up Meall nan Eun on a day that could (and did) get fairly wet at times. Back-tracking on Meall nan Eun (928m) we saw this view of the intermediate lump of Meall Tarsuinn (877m) before a drop down to a Beallach at 754m and the steep haul up the towering peak of Stob Coir'an Albannaich (1044m) seen here in the background.
The descent was as characteristically boggy as the last time we were in this part - which was odd given the paucity of rain this summer.
Superb evening views up the glen at the end (extra 1), an interesting commemorative stone in a stunning location (extra 2)*, and a slap-up dinner in the Bridge of Orchy hotel made for an almost perfect day.
