photo courtesy of oahu's famous north shore. the waves aren't quite to the size of the 25 foot banzai pipeline behemoths just yet, but they are getting close.

as i only use a point-and-shoot, it may be difficult to see, but the speck inside the wave is an actual surfer after "getting tubed". we surfers (yesterday being my first time ever) use lingo like that :)

these guys are definitely a little off to go out in waters like that - but there's certainly a part of me that wishes i could do the same.

the trip from waikiki to the north shore is about 2 hours via the city bus, and is well worth the $4 round-trip. there's even a stop for the dole pineapple plantation along the way if you're so inclined.
