Canal Walk
After placing an order for new carpets and paying a hefty 50% deposit this morning, we felt in need of relaxation and something to take our mind off how much we had just spent. We drove over to Castlethorpe and parked at the Navigation, and then walked along the canal to Cosgrove. This bridge over the canal there is one of only two ornamental bridges on the Grand Union Canal, and no-one is absolutely sure why it was built this way although one theory is that the Chairman of the canal company who lived in nearby Tyringham Hall may have used his architect to design it. After a stroll round Cosgrove and through the horse tunnel under the canal, we walked back to Castlethorpe where we had lunch in the Navigation. A very pleasant way to spend a few hours.
I've added an extra of a heron we spotted by the canal.
