Just Keep Your Distance

I've been observing and photographing this PaperWasp nest in my front yard, for a couple of weeks now. I've gradually gotten them 'used' to my camera and my presence. Closer and closer I've been moving toward them. This image was taken with my 100mm macro lens. I was about 5-6 inches from their nest. Seven little wasp faces studied kept their eyes trained on me! Not 'friendly' but at least 'tolerant'. Look closely and you can see two of their eggs. I think that the one with her back to me is their Queen. Notice her dark eyes and dot pattern on her 'forehead'. A little less than sharp, probably 'cause I was shaking a little! hahaha
