Open Wide!

Dear Diary,

A favorite restaurant of mine in the next town has a little outdoor patio and each summer they surround it with big planters of hibiscus, appropriately enough a variety called "dinnerplate" hibiscus.  They are huge and I just had to stop and try out my little Canon on a close-up of this beauty.  I just love that little stigma at the end of the stamen.

Our weather has turned cooler, only 46F this morning.  It is such a relief.  I watched Horatio the Hare nibbling the grass this morning which is a sure sign that Andrew, my lawn guy, will be here on Friday to mow.  Usually, by this time of year, the grass is slowing down but with all the recent rain it is growing quite nicely.  Horatio is very pleased I think.
