Talking stick

I did a little work this morning, but by the time I had got organised to do my blip it was pouring rain - so it's another inside photo today.

I am heading off to participate for a few days in an Arkleton Trust seminar tomorrow. It's an international charity specially interested in rural development and education. This reminded me of the talking stick in the picture - it came from a previous Arkleton seminar that I attended. It was made by a native Canadian Indian friend of ours and in his tradition the talking stick is used at community meetings. Only the person holding the stick is allowed to speak at one time, before passing it on - it saves a messy babble. Seems a good idea to me!
