Crimple Viaduct
.. outside Harrogate.
Having shown, yesterday, the footpath which follows the route of a former railway line between Starbeck and Harrogate stations, today's blip shows the working line from Leeds to Harrogate. The train is crossing the viaduct over Crimple Beck, between Pannal and Hornbeam Park stations.
The viaduct was constructed between 1800 and 1849; it is 570 m long with thirty one 15 m span arches 33 m high. Originally, a direct rail line from Leeds to Thirsk went under the viaduct but this no longer exists.
