Ladies who latte.
It has been a while since I have had a proper Edinburgh morning!
Met up with the lovely Mairi this morning for a catch-up - such a joy :)
As neither of us had been before we decided to give Bonningtons eaterie a try. It's not your typical cafe in that there isn't a massive choice of cakes and pastries (though I did go for the heated croissant with jam which was tasty!). However, they do good coffee and look to have a very impressive selection of sandwiches and apparently boast a very good soup - though at 9am we were admittedly none the wiser! Atmosphere was cool and the guy was very up on customer service.
I was very impressed that when Mairi asked for tap water we were offered a caraffe of water with mint & cucumber. Have never had water this way before - very refreshing!
And of course - the company was great :D Really enjoyed having a catch-up.
Then a wander in to the city for a few bits and pieces and to take note of all the seasonal developments. Jenners and Multrees Walk are both looking very festive (not forgetting the Dome, but that's old news). Meanwhile the wheel is just about finished and Princes Street Gardens is starting to look ready for light night in a couple of weeks.
Few hours of reading this afternoon then off to Rainbows - here's hoping I don't forget to buy the biscuits!
