Mary Mary

An absolute privilege to be asked to present the Mary Barbour Award 2018 tonight in Glasgow.

Established by Parkhead Housing Association in 2016, it is awarded to a woman from the city of Glasgow who embodies the spirit of the incredible Mary Barbour in their fight for social justice.

This year the winner was the wonderful Mary MacPherson*, who has been involved in so many projects in her local area of Calton, and who has campaigned tirelessly for the rights of kinship carers.

So well deserved - and a joy to meet her alongside so many other inspiring nominees.



*And no, you don’t need to be called Mary to win the Award - a happy coincidence!
