Set Aside

This is the field next door to our house. The farmer doesn't grow anything in it and claims it as set aside meaning he is alowed to cut once a year in the first week of August. In the 19th century the building on the right was where the bricks were fired. Some of you may remember that our house was the brickwork's foreman' s house. The remaining barns have almost collapsed.

How long will it be before developers start sniffing around? We won't mind too much if houses are built providing they are well planned and our infrastructure can take the increase of inhabitants. We have been lucky and had 22 years of a quiet empty field, with sole access to some delicious blackberries!
