Boat Part Two
Some interest was shown in my boat blip yesterday. So here is Part Two.
The boat is owned by the Arnside Sailing Club. I sent the Blip to a member of the Club Committee and below is his reply.
The boat is meant to lie down on either side. She has a rubbing strake in the spot which touches the ground, (a thicker plank which sticks out slightly further than the other planks). Unfortunately she is on a slight incline which exaggerates the lean depending on where she settles on the slope. Which way she faces seems to depend on a number of factors. Height of tide, wind strength and the back eddy which flows in the opposite direction to the incoming tide but then with the tide on the ebb, but not as strong as the main ebb channel. Yesterday we extended the mooring chain to allow her more movement as she settles, previously she was getting tight on the chain and dragging to a settle. The ever changing conditions here make it difficult to keep her safe which is causing us some concern.
Clear as mud! Sorry.
