Walk to Feed the Hungry
Today was the Walk to Feed the Hungry, a project of Buddhist Global Relief.
Buddhist Global Relief was founded by Bhikkhu Bodhi, the living Buddhist teacher whose words and actions most inspire me personally. He speaks of the necessity to take action to defend those who are being harmed by greed and wealth-hoarding. If you'd like to get a hit of his energy, click on the video in the upper left corner of that link.
The walk in Portland was led by Ajahn Sudanto, furthest right in this photo, whose 50th birthday was today.
Edit, following day: Air quality improved enough that we were all able to breathe deeply during this walk, although by Sunday morning the smoke had moved in again and I was not able to attend the Walk with Refugees and Immigrants that I had planned to photograph.
