Seals sunning....
It was foggy the whole way from Seattle early this morning til we arrived at the ferry near Vancouver. Beautiful tho. Then it was cloudy again when we arrived at the marina on Galiano where we keep our boat, with our fingers crossed that it would start. It's been 7 weeks since we were here and anyone familiar with small boats knows what I mean when I say that.(fingers crossed) Well, the bilge was full of rainwater, but the engine ran perfectly. Yea! However, the steering mechanism was stuck. Wouldn't budge. and would you believe it took us forever - almost 2 hours- with hammers, wrenches, driftwood pry bars and a lot of elbow grease (H's ) to unstick it. By that time, the sun had come out and it was gorgeous. so we took a swing around our little bay to see maybe 25 harbour seals soaking up the sun on those rocks that I quite like. (You might have to biggify if you want to see 5 seals, 3 are looking at you) The tide was high. Our w. side of the bay never gets any sun at all this time of year!
Oh well, all is truly well; coffee has been drunk, the larder is fully stocked (I love this feeling!), a fire has been stoked (the cabin will be warm by tomorrow), the bird feeders have been refilled, and it's quiet and there's no place to go. Couldn't ask for 1 thing more.
Except maybe better internet. I forget how slow and frustrating this tethering to my 3G phone is. Spoiled, I know. :-)
