St Andrew's Catholic Church
Stopped at traffic lights, I noticed the name Edge Hill on gateposts that we have passed many times. Then my eye was drawn to the unusual building behind, which, it transpires, has an interesting history.
Timber-built from a kit as a temporary church, with Arts-and-Crafts and Early English features, St Andrew's Catholic Church opened in 1902 in the grounds of a large C19 house (out of shot to the right), the Edge Hill of those gateposts, now used as parish rooms and a home for retired priests. St Andrew's is now category C listed.
