Criminals versus Police versus Police Commissioners

Crime - what would we do without it? Well perhaps all live in peace and harmony, have no police force, have 80% less television programmes and films, have no bankers, have no betting industry, have no Jimmy Saville, have no fear, have a world where all small businesses pay taxes, have a world where MPs might almost concentrate on their day jobs instead of fiddling their expenses, have around 80% less pupils in Eaton (work that one out), have 80% less internet traffic and email, have less to blip about today !

Well, today is the day that we all get to vote for our local Police and Crime Commissioners. This is rather bizarre because none of the Public know anything about it, why, wherefore, when, who invented this and what on earth these new bureaucrats (on 100K salaries) are actually going to do? Perhaps they are all busily engrossed watching box sets of 'The Wire' or 'The Sweeney' or even the more bizarre 'Life on Mars'. They will also be practicing in front of the mirror - looking tough - drinking a quick whisky (in a dirty glass) and repeating "SHUT IT" and getting used to the title "GUV"

Do you have to have any criminal or police experience to be a commissioner? Now there's a thought.
